3,540 coronavirus cases recorded in Ukraine in a week

The number of coronavirus cases is increasing in Ukraine: 3,540 new patients were recorded in a week. This is due to a decrease in immunity in the population – both after vaccination and after an infection. About it on the air of the telethon stated Oleksiy Danylenko, Deputy General Director of the Center for Public Health.

“If we compare with the previous week, then the increase is three times, but if we compare with the previous year, then in a week we registered more than 10, even up to 15 thousand cases of the disease. This year, so far, we have much lower rates of the incidence of COVID-19.” Oleksiy Danylenko said.

According to him, the main factors in the spread of the disease are a decrease in immunity after vaccinations and transferred COVID-19, neglect of personal protective equipment, active travel and migration, as well as the emergence of new variants of the virus.

“We are registering new strains of the virus on the territory of Ukraine – this is Stratus and there are already two cases of Nimbus”, Danylenko noted.

He also added that the new strains have an increased ability to spread among people, but do not cause a severe course of the disease.
