800,000 Ukrainians traveled abroad by train this year
Currently, 28 trains of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” run on international routes. This year, more than 800,000 tickets were already sold for such flights. The most popular destination among Ukrainians traveling abroad by train is Poland.
In addition, you can reach the Czech Republic, Austria, Moldova, Hungary and Slovakia by direct train from Ukraine. 14 out of 28 international trains start in major cities of Ukraine. Another 14 cross-border flights are trains leaving from border towns.
“This year, the largest number of passengers were transported in connection with Przemyśl — 451,000, in connection with Chelm 226,000 passengers were transported, and in connection with Warsaw more than 82,000 tickets were sold,” – reported in JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”.
The number of tickets for direct train flights from major Ukrainian cities is limited, so Ukrzaliznytsia advises to go to border towns and transfer to other flights.
“Train No. 67/68 Kyiv – Warsaw remains the most popular, the number of seats is limited due to the specifics of the cars. RIC cars are used here, which can run on both Ukrainian and European tracks. Their number in the company’s fleet is limited. Therefore, if you did not have time to buy a ticket for this train, we recommend considering the train Lviv – Rava-Ruska – Warsaw, as well as flights to Chelm and Przemyśl,” the carrier warns.
Passenger traffic is expected to increase in the summer. Train tickets can be purchased on the Ukrzaliznytsia website or at ticket offices in advance – sales open 20 days before departure.
