A defense memorandum was signed between Ukraine and Estonia

A Memorandum of Understanding between the defense departments of the countries was signed between Ukraine and Estonia. This news reported Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov.

On the Estonian side, the signature was signed by Minister of Defense Hanno Pevkur. Umerov emphasized that this memorandum is a key step in the implementation of the Agreement on cooperation in the field of security, signed in June this year by the Prime Minister of Estonia Kaya Kallas and the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

The memorandum provides for the expansion of cooperation in the use of Estonian military aid to Ukraine for 2024-2027. According to the document, support equivalent to 0.25% of Estonia’s GDP will be directed to:

  • provision of material assistance to the Ukrainian military;
  • financing of the Estonian-led IT coalition;
  • training of Ukrainian servicemen.

“This is not only help to Ukraine, but also an exchange of experience. Ukraine will share combat knowledge that will strengthen the defense capabilities of Estonia and our partners.”, — noted Rustem Umyerov.
