Ukraine and Sweden agreed on joint defense production on the territory of both countries
During the meeting, Defense Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and his Swedish colleague Paul Jonson signed a letter of intent, which provides for the launch of joint production of defense products in both countries.
This document updates and strengthens joint efforts in the field of defense production, creates conditions for the implementation of joint projects in the field of defense industry, and also ensures stability and reciprocity of cooperation between Ukraine and Sweden.
In particular, it is about the further exchange of technologies and experience in the production of weapons and military equipment, which should strengthen the stability and self-sufficiency of the defense-industrial complexes of both states.
“During the meeting with his Swedish colleague, he thanked the people and leadership of his country for unwavering support of Ukraine in all spheres during the repulsion of Russian aggression. In particular, for joining the PURL initiative and allocating $486 million together with Norway and Denmark, Shmyhal said.
In addition, the parties discussed cooperation in the field of military aviation, including the training of Ukrainian pilots and work on joint projects of Ukrainian and Swedish companies.
“He thanked the Swedish government, in particular, for the transfer of the ASC 890 radar reconnaissance and control aircraft. Among the nearest perspectives of our cooperation is work on innovations, development of joint productions”, Shmyhal noted.
Also during the negotiations, the possibilities of intensifying cooperation in the field of space technologies were discussed.
