A house for $1 and a car fleet worth $440,000: the luxurious property of relatives of the SBU colonel (video)
The investigation revealed an impressive property owned by the relatives of a colonel of the Security Service of Ukraine, known for his entrepreneurial activities. According to journalists, the value of real estate and cars of relatives reaches more than one and a half million dollars.
According to the investigation, Zelenskyi’s relatives have significantly expanded their property portfolio in recent years. They became the owners of not one, but a whole array of cars and real estate.
In particular, it is noted that the amount spent on cars and motorcycles is 440,000 dollars. Additionally, Zelenskyi’s father-in-law and mother purchased homes in upscale Koncha Zaspa, one of which hit the market just a few months after being purchased for nearly $1 million.
Colonel Oleksiy Zelenskyi said that his family is engaged in the resale of real estate and cars. According to him, they have sold 47 cars over the past 10 years. He also explained that some of these acquisitions were made at well below market value due to their condition.
Serhii Mytkalyk, head of the NGO “Anti-Corruption Headquarters”, believes that such actions of Zelenskyi may have signs of violation of the law, since law enforcement officials are prohibited from doing business. He calls for careful consideration of the situation and taking appropriate measures.
“There is a clear distinction between business and official activities. Accordingly, if you are an official, you must exclusively perform the functions of the state. He (Zelensky, — ed.) as an official within his working hours and even outside of working hours had no right to carry out these resales. If an official of law enforcement bodies carries out entrepreneurial activity or paid activity, the law on the prevention of corruption expressly prohibits this“, — says Mitkalik.
As for Zelensky himself, he confirms that all transactions involving his family’s property were conducted in compliance with the law, and he is ready to cooperate with any additional investigations.
