The State Emergency Service of Ukraine is being strengthened: updated response protocols, an increase in rescuers and own production of equipment

The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, in an exclusive interview with the National telethon “Yedini Novyni” reported on updating protocols for responding to emergency situations, in particular regarding the equipment of rescuers of the State Emergency Service.

One of the key updates has been an increase in the number of rescuers working at height. At the beginning of the year, there were 150 of them, and now there are already 500. The number of divisions that deal with the elimination of consequences at oil and gas industry facilities has also increased.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine is involved in assisting local authorities in preparing the second and third lines of defense. The demand for engineering equipment, in particular for fortification works, as well as for large cranes for dismantling rubble, has increased.

Such two-hundred-ton cranes work in Kharkiv”, – said Ihor Klymenko. “This is specific equipment that makes it possible to quickly cut reinforced concrete and iron beams that have collapsed critical infrastructure objects.”

The Minister announced the launch of own production of equipment for the State Emergency Service together with international partners.

For these two years, we borrowed equipment from our international partners, for which we are very grateful,” he added. “But now, together with the Europeans and the Japanese, we are launching our production in order to become a country that can solve its problems independently.”
