A record number of mobile towers were installed in Ukraine

Due to hostilities and attacks by the Russians on the infrastructure, mobile operators have to constantly restore the networks. They repair transmitters, repair infrastructure, install new equipment. In particular, over the past 6 months, about 2,300 mobile towers were installed, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine reported. This is a record for the industry.
“Together with key market players, we are working on improving and restoring communication throughout Ukraine, especially in the territories that suffer from shelling. In particular, mobile operators are constantly increasing the coverage of the population with mobile communication and the Internet. On average, they launch 240 base stations per month. in the last six months, a record 2,295+ towers were installed in more than 300 settlements,” – the Ministry of Statistics notes.
For example, one of the latest towers installed in the Kyiv region will provide 2,400 people within a 10-kilometer radius of the station with higher-quality communication and wireless Internet.
In May, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, together with its partners, presented a strategy for the development of electronic communications until 2030. One of the main goals is to provide mobile communication and broadband access to the Internet for 98% of the country’s population. This goal is planned to be implemented by 2030. Broadband coverage is currently 91%.
We will remind you that in June the President of Ukraine signed a draft law on the creation of a single roaming zone with the European Union. Now our fellow citizens will be able to use mobile communications and the Internet in 27 EU countries without additional fees. Similarly, European travelers will be able to use their domestic tariffs on the territory of Ukraine.
