A resident of Southern California, with the help of AI, returned his Lamborghini, stolen 2 years ago
Southern California resident Andrew Garcia found his stolen Lamborghini Huracan with the help of artificial intelligence almost two thousand kilometers from home – in Denver, Colorado. The car was returned almost two years after it disappeared, reports CBS.
Garcia was the victim of a large luxury car theft scheme in Riverside County in 2023. Then the criminals illegally took possession of about twenty luxury cars: they first rented them, but did not return them, and later forged the documents of the owners and resold them.
The law enforcement officers returned some of the stolen cars, but the Lamborghini remained undetected. The breakthrough in the case happened when the man received an unexpected message on Instagram with a photo of his car. The sender probably found Andrew’s business card and thought he could help buy other supercars.
To find out the location of the car, Garcia used ChatGPT and Google services, which helped analyze the images. This led him to Denver, where local police confirmed the identification of the Lamborghini and returned it to its owner.
Colorado Auto Theft Prevention Authority spokesman Cale Gould praised Garcia’s initiative, calling his actions “a valuable example of intelligence gathering that helped in the recovery of stolen vehicles.”
The victim himself expressed hope that his experience will become motivating for others:
“You can ask for help, but sometimes you have to do it yourself. And here’s one way to do it.”
