A serviceman of the Galicia-Frankivsk RTCC and SP died in Lviv while performing his duties. The tragedy occurred on the evening of December 3 at the intersection of Yefremov and Yaponska streets, where, according to data from the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office and the Prosecutor General’s Office, the serviceman was fatally stabbed by a 30-year-old city resident.
The attack took place during mobilization notification and document verification events. After the attack, the man fired a gas canister at the military and fled. The victim was an ATO veteran. He was immediately taken to the hospital with a serious injury to the femoral artery, but his life could not be saved – the soldier died the next morning.
Law enforcement officers promptly identified and detained the suspect in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The knife used to inflict the injury was seized at the scene. The Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 121 and Part 3 of Article 350 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of reporting suspicion and choosing a preventive measure is ongoing.
