On May 26, law enforcement officers reported a 39-year-old man suspected of shooting in a high-rise building in the Desnyansky district. According to police, the suspect is a serviceman who left the military unit in 2025. This was reported by the press service of the Main Department of the National Police of Kyiv.
The incident occurred on May 18 in an apartment on Gradynska Street. The police received a report that the owner of the apartment fired several shots from a gun, after which he locked himself in the apartment. The investigative and operational group and special forces of the KORD arrived at the scene. They detained the suspect.
“Investigators established that military law enforcement officers came to the 39-year-old serviceman, who in 2025 left the military unit without permission. The man opened the door and, during a conversation in the corridor, fired two shots from a “Flaubert” revolver at the interlocutors. Fortunately, no one was injured,” the report says.
During a search of the detainee’s apartment, a police dog handler with a service dog found a package with a substance similar to cannabis in the room, as well as a pistol. All physical evidence was seized by law enforcement officers and sent for examination.
Currently, the man was reported to be suspected under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – hooliganism. The sanction of this article provides for up to seven years of imprisonment.
The police also recalled that on April 30, a serviceman in the SZCh was detained in Kyiv, who was walking around a supermarket and scaring visitors with a weapon. Law enforcement officers established that the man was drunk.
In addition, on April 25, the police reported the detention of a suspect in the shooting in Bucha. According to the investigation, the man was intoxicated and fired randomly.
