In addition to homes, parents, and education, the war unleashed by Russia takes away the most important thing from Ukrainian children – life. During the full-scale invasion, 551 children died as a result of hostilities in Ukraine. Another 1,400 children were injured of various degrees of severity.
“More than 1,952 children were injured in Ukraine as a result of the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation. As of the morning of June 26, 2024, according to the official information of juvenile prosecutors, 551 children died and more than 1,401 were injured of various degrees of severity.” – reported in the Office of the General Prosecutor of Ukraine.
The most children were affected in Donetsk region (547), Kharkiv region (395), Kherson region (152), Dnipropetrovsk (151), Kyiv (130), Zaporizhia (108), and Mykolaiv (107) regions.
Only during the last week, nine minors were injured as a result of hostilities.
On June 24, as a result of shelling in the cities of Druzhkivka and Pokrovsk of the Donetsk region, five children were injured: two boys aged 12 and 16 and three girls aged 9, 11 and 13.
On June 23, as a result of shelling in the city of Kharkiv, two boys aged 15 and 16 were injured. On the same day, two boys aged 10 and 13 were injured as a result of shelling in the city of Selidove, Donetsk region.
We will remind you that the Russians deported about 20,000 children to the Russian Federation and to territories not controlled by Ukraine. So far, only about 600 young Ukrainians have been able to return home. The Main Directorate of Intelligence has developed the “Child Abductors” portal. This is an online site that collects information about persons involved in the forced deportation of minor citizens of Ukraine.
