Adaptation of Ukrainian refugees abroad: interesting research data

A study of social attitudes among Ukrainian refugees by Gradus Research found that 64% of them have not adapted to life abroad and intend to return home, although the exact time of return remains uncertain for most.
In the conditions of war, new factors arise that encourage Ukrainians to consider the possibility of temporary relocation. At the same time, attitudes towards returning to Ukraine largely depend on the level of adaptation to life abroad and other factors.
According to the results of the survey, the greatest desire to return to Ukraine is expressed by refugees who work remotely for Ukrainian businesses (70%) and those who are temporarily unemployed (68%).
Negative experiences of aggressive behavior by citizens of other countries also influence the decision to return. At least 23% of respondents had similar negative experiences.
However, 60% of respondents believe that staying abroad guarantees their personal safety, and 65% feel safe for their children. This sense of security is one of the main factors keeping them from returning.
An important indicator is that more than half (62%) of the respondents cannot specify the exact time of their return. 36% believe that their decision will be influenced by the availability of real financial support during their return, and for 33% it is important to be able to arrange housing in Ukraine. In addition, 27% are ready to return if air defenses are strengthened.
The survey was conducted by the questionnaire method in the mobile application/online platform Gradus, the sample covers the population of cities with more than 50 thousand inhabitants aged 18-60.
