Amazon plans to use humanoid robots to deliver orders
Amazon is working on creating new software for humanoid robots. This will allow you to use them as couriers for the delivery of orders. About this informs Reuters.
The company is completing the arrangement of a special “humanoid park” – an obstacle course located in one of its offices in San Francisco, where it is planned to test new functions of robots. For this, software based on artificial intelligence will be used.
In the first phase, Amazon will use hardware solutions from other manufacturers. This software will allow humanoid robots to perform tasks that are currently performed by humans, which could lead to job cuts within the company.
Amazon is already actively introducing autonomous robots into its warehouse processes, in particular, it is conducting tests of the humanoid robot “Digit” from the company Agility Robotics. This robot was originally designed to perform tasks related to logistics, such as sitting in the back of vans and delivering packages.
We will remind, in May, Amazon announced the creation of Vulcan, a robot capable of recognizing touch. It is planned to be used at the company’s sorting centers, where there are already more than 750,000 robotic systems that perform various functions — from sorting to transporting heavy goods.
