“On April 16, late in the evening, an unknown person attacked Yuriy Makarov, the executive producer of Public Broadcasting and a well-known journalist, and stabbed him. Yuriy Makarov was hospitalized in serious condition. As of now, there is no threat to his life.” – says the message of “Suspilny”.
An investigative team worked at the scene. Law enforcement officers seized the tools of the crime and other material evidence. Based on this fact, the investigators of the Solomian police department opened criminal proceedings under part 1 Art. 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — intentional grievous bodily harm. At present, efforts are being made to search for and arrest the suspect.
“We call on the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine to take the investigation under personal control. The Public Broadcasting team wishes Yury Makarov a speedy recovery and hopes that the attacker will be found and punished.” – the statement emphasizes.
As clarified in the Kyiv police, the perpetrator fled from the scene of the crime, but left a knife and other physical evidence, which has already been seized. Law enforcement officers are taking measures to identify the attacker and arrest him.
