An explosion rang out in Kharkiv in the morning: the Russian Federation struck the city center

Residents of the city heard the sound of the explosion around 9:50 a.m., authorities urged people to take shelter.

In the early morning of August 6, at 09:52, a powerful explosion rang out in Kharkiv. The head of the Kharkiv military garrison, Serhii Melnyk, urged residents to stay in shelters.

The mayor of Kharkiv Igor Terekhov said that the explosion occurred in the central area of ​​the city, where there are dense residential buildings.

“Strike in the central area of ​​the city. Dense residential buildings. Fire. Regarding destruction and victims, information is being clarified”, – wrote he is in his Telegram channel.

The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration (KHOVA) Oleg Sinegubov reported on two victims and suggested that there may be people under the rubble. Firefighters and rescue services are actively working at the scene.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov additionally clarified, that as a result of a missile attack on the center of Kharkiv, the polyclinic building was damaged. “Currently, the information about the injured and the destruction is being clarified“, Terekhov noted.

Head of HOVA Oleg Sinegubov reported, that according to preliminary data, the explosion was caused by the impact of the “Iskander” rocket.

“The occupiers were hit by the Iskander. Civilian premises were damaged, including a polyclinic, civilian cars, residential infrastructure, windows were broken. The liquidation of the consequences continues,” Synegubov wrote in a telegram.

Rescue services continue to work at the scene of the explosion, eliminating the consequences and clarifying information about the destruction and possible victims. Local authorities are urging residents to follow safety rules and stay in shelters until further notice.
