The Foreign Ministry explained the stage of the trilateral negotiations between Ukraine, the US and the Russian Federation

Trilateral talks involving Ukraine, the US, and Russia are currently on hold due to events in the Middle East, but the teams continue to communicate daily with each other. This was reported during a briefing by the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhiy Tykhyi.

He noted that the trilateral consultations have already been postponed several times, and as of now they also remain postponed.

“That is, they were not refused, they were not canceled, they were simply postponed in time. There is no need to look for some kind of double bottom here, so to speak. Indeed, the attention of the United States is now fully concentrated on the Middle East. And in such conditions. Therefore, the negotiation track is currently on pause, although the teams communicate with each other every day,” he emphasized.

A spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry also stated that “working contact is indeed taking place,” but in order to “advance this process, meetings are needed, ideally a meeting of leaders.”

Separately, Tykhyi stressed that Russia is not showing readiness for a diplomatic process.

Last week, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine is ready for a new stage of negotiations to end the war, but neither the place nor the time of the meeting have yet been agreed upon due to differences in the positions of the United States and Russia.

Zelensky also insists on holding a meeting with US President Donald Trump, as “there are some issues that are not yet in place.”

At the same time, information appeared in the media that Trump was losing interest in negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the war that Russia is waging against Ukraine, as his attention is now focused on Iran.
