Big privatization: Azerbaijani businessman buys Ukraine’s largest titanium company

The Azerbaijani company “Tsemin Ukraine”, which belongs to businessman Nasib Hasanov, the owner of the NEQSOL holding and the operator of Vodafone Ukraine, became the only participant in the auction for the privatization of the joint-stock company “United Mining and Chemical Company” (OGHC). As NEQSOL regional director Volodymyr Lavrenchuk noted in a comment for LIGA.net, the holding expects the completion of the privatization process and the official announcement of the results in accordance with current procedures.

In accordance with the rules of conducting electronic auctions for large privatization objects, if less than two applications are submitted for the auction, the privatization body must make a decision on the sale of the asset within five working days after the formation of the protocol.

Lavrenchuk also noted that NEQSOL considers OGHC as a strategic investment that can strengthen the group’s position in various industries.

NEQSOL is a group of companies that is 100% owned by Nasib Hasanov and operates in various sectors of the economy. Starting in the oil and gas sector in the early 1990s, the group has expanded its operations through two companies, Nobel Oil E&P, which is engaged in exploration and production, and Nobel Energy, which provides services to oil and gas operators.

In 2019, NEQSOL acquired from the Russian owners the mobile operator Vodafone Ukraine, which is the second largest telecommunications operator in the country. In addition, the holding is engaged in construction services and production of building materials, in particular cement.
