Billionaire founder of the Mango brand Isaac Andik tragically died in Spain

On December 14, 2024, a tragic incident occurred in Spain: the 71-year-old billionaire and founder of the famous Mango brand Isak Andik died in the mountains of Montserrat, near Barcelona. The businessman was taking a walk with his family when he slipped and fell from a 150-meter cliff.

About Andik’s death reported the press service of Mango in the X social network:

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden death of our founder and chairman emeritus, Isak Andik, due to a tragic accident. He was an example to all of us, dedicating his life to Mango and leaving an indelible mark through his strategic vision, inspirational leadership and commitment to our company’s values.”

According to information from the Spanish publication El Pais, Andik was in excellent physical shape and was fond of mountain walks. That day he was vacationing with his family in the Montserrat Caves area. The tragedy occurred during a hike with his son Jonathan Andik, who immediately called rescuers after his father fell into the gorge. Medics and rescuers arrived on the scene by helicopter, but the doctors only declared the businessman dead.

Isak Andik was born in Istanbul, Turkey and moved with his family to Spain in the 1960s. He opened his first clothing store in Barcelona in 1984, and already in 1992 he took his business to the international level.

As of December 2024, his fortune was estimated at $4.5 billion, making him the richest man in Catalonia and one of the richest businessmen in Spain.

The Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, expressed his condolences to Andik’s family, noting his significant contribution to the global fashion industry. Mango CEO Tony Ruiz also expressed his sadness at the loss.
