Budanov predicts a new Russian offensive on Sumy Oblast
Head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov v interview The New York Times warned of a possible attack by Russian troops on the Sumy region.
According to him, it is expected that after the end of the attacks in the Kharkiv region, which, according to his forecasts, will last another “three or four days”, the enemy will intensify its actions in the Sumy direction. Budanov noted that the goal of the Russian Federation in the northeast of Ukraine is to sow panic and chaos among the population.
“Currently, our task is to stabilize the front line, and then begin to push enemy troops out of our state“, he emphasized.
The head of the GUR believes that Russian attacks in the northeast are aimed at stretching the already limited reserves of Ukrainian forces and distracting them from other areas of the front.
According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are trying to transfer troops from other areas of the front line to strengthen the defense in the northeast, but finding personnel for this task turned out to be difficult.
