Bundeswehr establishes constant communication with the Armed Forces of Ukraine through the Special Staff ‘Ukraine’ to improve assistance
The German army is in constant contact with the Ukrainian military to improve the effectiveness of assistance. This was stated at a briefing by German Defence Ministry spokesman Mitko Müller.
‘The Special Headquarters Ukraine is in constant, round-the-clock contact with the Ukrainian Armed Forces to find out what is needed and how to deliver it to Ukraine as soon as possible,’ the spokesman said.
He added that Germany is providing Ukraine with, among other things, drones and drone defence systems.
‘Russia’s aggressive war is proving the importance of drones every day,’ Mueller said.
The spokesperson also mentioned that a coalition to work with drones was created within the Contact Group for Assistance to Ukraine under the leadership of Lithuania and the United Kingdom. Germany, together with Lithuania, initiated a programme of ‘rapid transfer’ of additional drones and protective equipment to Ukraine. Recently, the Berlin Innovation Centre of the Bundeswehr hosted a demonstration of existing developments and models already used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the participation of German and Lithuanian manufacturers. Germany was represented by about 15 companies, including Rheinmetall and Diel.
