Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the provision of $1 billion in aid to Ukraine

Canada has announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine worth $1 billion, which will include armored vehicles, drones and ammunition. This was announced by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney during a speech in Kyiv at the Independence Day celebrations.

“At the G7 summit in June, Canada pledged an additional $2 billion in military aid. Today, I’m proud to announce that more than $1 billion of that amount will go toward strengthening your arsenal of weapons — through the delivery of drones, ammunition and armored vehicles that will arrive as early as next month,” Carney said.

He also noted that Canada will allocate tens of millions of dollars for emergency aid, equipping bomb shelters and strengthening local democracy in Ukraine, in particular through support in the field of cyber defense.

“As co-chair of the international coalition for the return of Ukrainian children, Canada will strengthen cooperation with Ukraine, European partners and the United States to ensure the immediate and unconditional return of children. On this Independence Day of Ukraine and at this critical moment in the country’s history, Canada is increasing its support and efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, added Mark Carney.

On Tuesday, August 26, the Prime Minister of Canada will visit Germany, where he will meet with Chancellor Friedrich Mertz. The next day, on Wednesday, August 27, Mark Carney will hold talks in Riga with the Prime Minister of Latvia Evika Silina.
