Case of abuse during the purchase of aircraft tires for the Armed Forces of Ukraine referred to court: NABU
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office have sent an indictment to the court in the case of embezzlement of funds of the Ministry of Defense in the amount of over 27 million hryvnias during the purchase of tires for military aircraft. This was reported by the NABU press service.
A former assistant to a People’s Deputy of Ukraine, former officials of the Ministry of Defense, and a private entrepreneur will appear before the court.
The investigation established that the heads of structural units of the Logistics Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine ensured the victory of a certain private company in tenders for the supply of aviation components. To create the appearance of competition, only loyal participants were allowed to participate in the bidding, and offers from other companies were rejected or distorted, even if they were significantly more profitable for the state.
The owner of this company purchased products directly from manufacturers through a controlled company registered in the EU, and then resold them to the Armed Forces of Ukraine at prices that were two to three times inflated.
He was actively assisted by an assistant to the people’s deputy, who ensured that the Ministry of Defense promptly paid all bills under the concluded contracts. As a result of this scheme, the Armed Forces of Ukraine suffered losses in the amount of 27.3 million hryvnias. The corruption scheme was exposed in June 2025 with the assistance of the Security Service of Ukraine.
