Ukraine has expanded the “Affordable Medicines” program: which drugs have been added to the list
Since April 1, 2026, the “Affordable Medicines” program has been operating in an expanded format: it has included 37 new drugs in various dosages, which Ukrainians can receive for free or with a partial co-payment. The list of drugs that have been added to the program is provided by the Ministry of Health.
Medicines with the active ingredient amoxicillin were included in the program for the first time (Ospamox), which has antimicrobial effects, and ofloxacin (Unilat), which is used as an antiglaucoma and miotic agent. The remaining new positions expand the list of trade names of drugs that were already provided for by the program. Thus, patients received a wider choice of medicines, available free of charge or with a partial co-payment.
New drugs are used to treat:
- cardiovascular diseases;
- infectious diseases;
- diabetes;
- mental and behavioral disorders;
- epilepsy;
- Parkinson’s disease;
- respiratory diseases;
- ophthalmological diseases;
- migraines;
- some oncological diseases.
Some new drugs are also used for prevention during pregnancy.
“The state’s priority remains the fight against cardiovascular diseases, which are the main cause of mortality in Ukraine.
That is why the program is supplemented with drugs that provide more comprehensive treatment, in particular, taking into account the common combination of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and respiratory diseases,” the Ministry of Health explained.
In the direction of cardiovascular disease treatment, the following were added to the program:
- Telpres plus (active ingredients – telmisartan and hydrochlorothiazide);
- Indap (indapamide);
- Tiurex (hydrochlorothiazide);
- Veroshpiron (spironolactone);
- Toradiv (torasemide);
- Acekor Cardio (acetylsalicylic acid).
For the treatment of infectious diseases in children, the list was supplemented with the following drugs:
- Ospamox (amoxicillin);
- Trikaside (metronidazole);
- Uniflox (ofloxacin);
- Cipronex (ciprofloxacin).
The list was also expanded with drugs for patients with mental and behavioral disorders:
- Escitalopram Teva;
- Asitalox (escitalopram);
- Kvetiron (quetiapine).
The drug Levenium (levetiracetam) for patients with epilepsy, Levocom retard Asino, was also added to the “Available Medicines” program. (levodopa and carbidopa) for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, Metafora-SR and Metformin (metformin) for the treatment of diabetes, as well as Ventolin Evohaler (salbutamol) for patients with respiratory diseases.
In addition, the list included anti-glaucoma drugs – Prolatan, Unilat, Xaloptic Eco (latanoprost), an anti-migraine drug – Migrenet (sumatriptan), as well as drugs to help patients with malignant breast tumors – Aralet (letrozole) and Exemarin (exemestane).
The list was also supplemented with the drug Folic acid Astra for prevention during pregnancy.
After updating the list of drugs and The list of medical products within the “Affordable Medicines” program includes 748 items, most of which are medicines. You can get them for free or with a partial co-payment by electronic referral from a doctor.
According to the Ministry of Health, since the beginning of 2026, more than 1.5 million patients have already used the program, who have paid off more than 3.5 million electronic prescriptions for medicines.
