ChatGPT user growth reached 200 million in one week

OpenAI projects its annual revenue to reach $3.4 billion, a significant increase from $1.6 billion by the end of 2023. The ChatGPT chatbot now has 200 million weekly active users, double the 100 million in November 2023. In addition, API usage has doubled since the release of the new large language model GPT-4o mini in July.

The increase in the number of users is not the only significant achievement of OpenAI in the last year. The company’s CEO, Sam Altman, told employees this summer that the company’s annual revenue will reach $3.4 billion, up from $1.6 billion, at the end of 2023.

Apple, Nvidia and Microsoft are in talks to invest in a new round of fundraising for OpenAI, The Wall Street Journal reports. According to the report, this round of funding will increase the company’s valuation to more than $100 billion. Microsoft has already invested $13 billion in its AI business since 2019, and Apple sees ChatGPT as an important part of its future push for Apple Intelligence. In the summer, Microsoft and Apple gave up their seats on OpenAI’s board of directors after the European Commission raised antitrust concerns about working so closely together.
