China expresses concern not only because of the possibility that Ukraine will receive permission to use Western weapons against Russia, but also because of the overall high probability of further escalation and expansion of the “Ukrainian crisis.”
This was stated by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Lin Jian, at the briefing, commenting on the statement of the special representative of the Chinese government for Eurasian affairs, Li Hui. Li Hui expressed concern that the West may soften the terms of Ukraine’s use of weapons against Russia.
Lin Jian stated that he believed that the information about Li Hui’s briefing was not true. According to him, China is most concerned about the possibility of further escalation and expansion of the conflict, which is called a “crisis” in China.
The spokesman added that the international community considers de-escalation of the situation a top priority, so China calls on all parties to avoid escalation of hostilities and refrain from escalation and provocations that could lead to further escalation of the conflict.
