Chinese authorities declare readiness for ‘mutually beneficial’ cooperation with Ukraine
China continues to position Ukraine as a friendly country and expresses its readiness to develop mutually beneficial cooperation with Kyiv. This was reported by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs after Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin met with Ukrainian Ambassador Pavlo Riabikin.
During the meeting, Liu Bin stressed that China and Ukraine have always had friendly relations, and Beijing is ready to continue to cooperate with Kyiv to ensure the development of mutually beneficial relations in various fields. China is committed to strengthening its partnership with Ukraine, which will contribute to the continuous growth of bilateral relations.
For his part, Pavlo Riabikin confirmed Ukraine’s interest in deepening relations with China and expressed readiness to promote active cooperation in all areas.
During the meeting, the parties also exchanged views on a political solution to the conflict in Ukraine, which China calls the ‘Ukrainian crisis’. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, China has maintained a position of neutrality, declaring indirect support for either side. Officially, Beijing does not approve of Russia’s armed aggression and does not provide military assistance to Moscow, although Chinese companies continue to cooperate with Russia by supplying dual-use goods.
It is worth noting that China is promoting its ‘peace plan’ for Ukraine, but the Ukrainian authorities criticise it. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has repeatedly stressed that any alternative peace plans that do not take into account Ukraine’s interests are just political statements and could have a destructive impact on the process of establishing a just peace.
