Consular services for Ukrainians in Poland have become more expensive: new amounts for passports, marriage and certificates
For Ukrainians living in Poland for a long time, contacting consular institutions is often associated with basic life needs: passport application, identity verification, registration of family changes, powers of attorney for relatives in Ukraine or documents necessary for further residence abroad. Because of this, any change in consular fees quickly becomes a practical issue for thousands of people who plan expenses for documents, trips to institutions and preparation of applications.
How the consular fee in Poland has changed
As reported at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Poland, Ukrainian diplomatic institutions in Poland have updated the rates of consular fees. The new rates were approved by Order No. 27 and are effective from May 18, 2026. They apply to applications to the Embassy of Ukraine in Warsaw, Consulates General in Lublin, Krakow, Gdansk and Wroclaw, Consulate in Poznań and Vice Consulate in Rzeszów.
Passport issuance remains one of the most necessary consular services, since without a valid document a person faces restrictions when traveling, confirming identity, and processing household and legal issues abroad. According to the updated tariffs, a passport for persons aged 16 and over costs $90, or PLN 326.
However, when planning expenses, it should be taken into account that the passport service is not limited to this amount. It is supplemented by automated data processing, which is mandatory for all applicants, including children under 16. Its cost is $40, or PLN 145. Therefore, for an adult applicant, the actual amount for passport issuance consists of two payments.
For those who have lost their passport, have an expired document or need to urgently return to Ukraine, an identity card for return is provided. Its registration or renewal costs $30, which corresponds to PLN 109. Registration in the consular register is set at $20, or PLN 72.
Separate amounts have been set for PMP, immigration and citizenship
Significantly higher tariffs apply to procedures related to long-term status of a person, emigration or citizenship. Registration of documents for departure to a permanent place of residence costs $200, or PLN 724. This service is relevant for those who plan to officially regulate long-term residence outside Ukraine.
Registration of an immigration permit has the highest rate among the above procedures — $400, or PLN 1,448. Renunciation of Ukrainian citizenship costs $300, which is PLN 1,086. If a person needs a certificate of Ukrainian citizenship or not, they will have to pay $20, or PLN 72.
Marriage registration and name change also have a new cost
Consular institutions in Poland also provide Ukrainians with services related to civil status acts. According to the new rates, state registration of marriage costs $100, or PLN 362. The same amount is set for state registration of name change.
Divorce by mutual consent of spouses, provided there are no minor children, costs more — $150, or PLN 543. For Ukrainians who are applying for family documents abroad, these payments should be taken into account in advance, since the consular procedure involves not only submitting an application, but also the correct preparation of documents.
Notary services
Many Ukrainians in Poland continue to resolve property, family or administrative issues in Ukraine, so notarial actions through the consulate remain a common need. Certification of a standard power of attorney under the new tariffs costs $30, or PLN 109.
Certification of the authenticity of a translation will cost $40, or PLN 145 per page. Certification of signatures on documents costs $20, which corresponds to PLN 72. Certification of copies and extracts from documents costs $10, or PLN 36 per page.
What changes for Ukrainians after the tariff revision
The update of consular fees means that Ukrainians in Poland will have to calculate the cost of the application more carefully even before registering with the institution. This is especially true for passport services, where the final amount may be higher than the basic rate due to mandatory automated data processing.
For families with children, people preparing documents for the PMP, issuing powers of attorney or registering changes in marital status, the new tariff grid becomes an important part of cost planning. Since the rates are valid in all Ukrainian diplomatic institutions in Poland, citizens should focus on the updated amounts regardless of where they apply – to the embassy, consulate general, consulate or vice-consulate.
