Control over the preparation of power facilities for the winter will be strengthened in Ukraine

The State Energy Supervision Inspectorate of Ukraine has announced that it is strengthening control over the preparation of energy facilities for the winter period in all regions of the country. This information was provided by the inspectorate’s press service after a meeting with the heads of its territorial offices.

The meeting discussed energy security, the restoration of damaged power facilities and measures to prepare market participants for the autumn and winter season. Particular attention was paid to analysing the status of restoration work at energy facilities damaged by the hostilities.

The meeting stressed the need to intensify management actions to accelerate the pace of restoration of energy facilities and ensure that repairs are completed on time. This should ensure that the power grids are properly prepared for the winter period and prevent possible disruptions in energy supply to consumers during the cold months.

The State Energy Regulatory Inspectorate also stressed the importance of effective control by market participants over the implementation of all planned winterisation measures. Particular attention is paid to ensuring stable and secure electricity supply, especially in the case of introducing hourly blackout schedules. It is important that the distribution of electricity is fair and takes into account the needs of all consumers.

In addition, we recall that recently, following President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s speech at the UN General Assembly, where he highlighted the vulnerability of Ukrainian energy facilities to Russian attacks, the state-owned Energoatom company signed an agreement to design and build protective structures for the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant.
