Cyber specialists of the State Government attacked the resources of the Central Committee of Russia

On the so-called “single voting day” in Russia, cyber specialists of the Central Government carried out a large-scale attack on the resources of the Russian CEC in response to holding illegal elections in the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.

The purpose of the operation was to prevent online voting, which the Russian authorities conducted, in particular, in the occupied lands of Ukraine. According to the source, a powerful DDOS attack was directed at the servers of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation and the remote electronic voting platform used for the elections of mayors and governors, at the trunk routers of “Rostelecom”, as well as the servers of the state portal of digital services “Gosuslugy”.

As a result of the attack, the digital services used for online voting were paralyzed for some time, and a significant number of Russians were unable to vote in the elections of city mayors and governors.

“In the CEC building “leagues” Internet – there is an attack”, – the head of the Russian CEC Ella Panfilova commented on the situation.

Problems with the operation of remote voting services were also confirmed by Roskomnadzor, which stated that due to failures in the Rostelecom network, there was a degradation of traffic on the trunk network.
