In Northern Ireland, about 75,000 consumers were left without electricity due to damage to networks caused by Hurricane Eowyn. It is reported BBC.
A yellow level of weather danger was announced in the region due to strong winds. Wind gusts reached 40-60 mph in many areas. In addition, a snow and ice warning has been issued. It comes two days after Storm Eowyn brought winds of more than 90mph.
According to the Met Office, the effects of the storm could be more extensive due to the long recovery work. Electricity has already been restored to 210,000 households, but it will take about 10 days to completely repair all the damage.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland has urged drivers to take care as many roads remain blocked due to fallen trees, downed power lines and other debris.
At the same time, about 330,000 consumers remain without electricity in the Republic of Ireland, although at the peak of the hurricane this number reached 768,000. Local authorities said most customers would receive power within a day, while the rest would be restored within a week. In addition, 109,000 people remain without water supply, and another 126,000 are at risk.
