During the Russian shelling of the port of Odesa, two civilian ships were damaged: Kuleba
During the Russian shelling of the Odesa port on March 1, two civilian ships were damaged, about what reported Oleksiy Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, in Telegram.
Earlier, Oleg Kiper, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, announced that one civilian vessel had been hit by a Russian ballistic missile.
“As a result of the attack, the port infrastructure and a civilian ship under the flag of the Republic of Panama, belonging to one of the European companies, were damaged. Two men, employees of the port, were injured. All relevant services are working to eliminate the consequences, doctors are providing the necessary assistance to the injured.” – wrote in Telegram Kiper.
However, Kuleba confirmed that two ships were damaged as a result of the attack, and port infrastructure was also damaged. In addition, two port workers were injured.
According to him, the strike damaged the vessel Super Sarkas, which flies under the flag of Sierra Leone and was transporting more than 21 thousand tons of corn and soybeans for export. The container ship MSC Levante F, owned by a leading European company and flying the Panamanian flag, was also damaged. Both ships transported exclusively civilian cargo.
Kuleba noted that this is already the 29th civilian vessel that was damaged by Russian attacks. Despite the shelling, the Ukrainian maritime food corridor continues to function. Since its opening, 106 million tons of cargo have been processed, of which almost 70 million tons are grain. Within this route, about 4,000 ships delivered Ukrainian products to the countries of Africa, Asia and Europe.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Ukraine is facing Russian terror every day and needs effective means of protection, while remaining a reliable guarantor of food security for many countries of the world.
