The Council talked about lowering the age for mobilization below 25: details

Ukraine lowered the mobilization age to 25 too late, and it is possible that this was not the last change.

About this stated People’s Deputy Roman Lozynskyi

He emphasized that lowering the age to 25 is a necessary measure, as the country continues to fight for its existence.

We belatedly lowered the age for mobilization. This is a fact. Those who have been performing tasks on the front line for more than two years must be replaced. Can society support the thesis that it is necessary to lower the age for mobilization – I think this is a rhetorical question. If you ask exactly about the desire, no one would say “yes, let’s go”. But if we are talking about the conditions in which our country continues to struggle, if we are talking about the fact that we are still continuing the struggle for our own existence, then yes, we need a decision to lower the age for participation in hostilities, for the defense of the country, for the military services“, – said Lozynskyi.

He also expressed confidence that, with the support of society, it is necessary to consider the possibility of further lowering the age for participation in combat operations as a strategic step in strengthening the country’s defense.

And the fact that the age has now been reduced from 27 to 25, we have to look at things realistically. Provided that such a front line remains, a full-scale war continues, it is possible that this is not the last change regarding the conscription age, the age for mobilization“, said the People’s Deputy

The decision to lower the maximum conscription age from 27 to 25 years was made by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi on April 2 this year. According to Ukrainian mass media, this can provide an additional flow of up to 100,000 new military personnel for the Ukrainian army.

During a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine last year, Zelenskyi expressed his intention to mobilize up to 500,000 people, which would cost the country approximately 500 billion hryvnias.
