Next round of talks may take place in the US: Zelensky
In the near future, Ukraine may hold a new round of negotiations on the settlement of the war, probably on US territory. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky in an evening address, summarizing the work of the negotiating team after contacts in Abu Dhabi with representatives of the US and Russia.
The Head of State reported that for two days the Ukrainian delegation in the Emirates held separate meetings and negotiations with the American and Russian sides, after which he expects the team to Kyiv for a full personal report, since a significant part of the issues cannot be discussed remotely.
“From what can already be said, further meetings are planned in the near future. Probably in America,”, – said Volodymyr Zelensky.
The President stressed that Ukraine is ready to work in all formats that can really bring the end of the war closer and ensure a stable and just peace without incentives for Russia to resume aggression.
“It is important that this war ends in such a way that Russia has no reward for aggression. This is one of the key principles that restore and guarantee real security. I thank all our partners who support us in this”, – said the head of state.
As follows from the communiqué following the trilateral talks on February 4-5 in Abu Dhabi, the delegations of the United States, Ukraine, and Russia discussed mechanisms for implementing a ceasefire and ways to monitor the cessation of hostilities. Separately, as a result of these meetings, the United States and Russia agreed to resume high-level military dialogue.
