“Each family should pay $3-4 thousand for energy storage devices”: Pavlyuk (video)

Executive Director of the Association “Energy-Efficient Cities of Ukraine” Sviatoslav Pavlyuk in his statement about the need for every Ukrainian family to purchase electricity storage devices worth 3-4 thousand dollars caused a wave of indignation and criticism in social networks.

Pavlyuk justified his position by the fact that Ukrainians have been underpaying for electricity for decades, and now they will have to compensate for this with significant costs. He also noted that storage devices will soon become an integral part of everyday life, like refrigerators or washing machines.

“Yes, these are additional costs. Yes, it will cost 3-4 thousand dollars per apartment. These are the costs that are expectedPavlyuk said.

I would say yes to Ukrainian consumers. The fact that you have been underpaying for electricity all these past years, and you have been underpaying for decades. Because the tariff of 1.40, the tariff of 2.40 – it did not cover the cost of electricity at all. That is, there was only the cost of delivery. Consider that you put money in the bank, and now you have to pay it all at once for a new energy supply system. I know I will get a million hates, I know there is no money, but you ate itPavlyuk added.

However, netizens did not agree with this position. They point to low salaries and pensions, which do not allow most Ukrainians to make such expenses. There are also accusations against the state and energy companies, which, according to commentators, are responsible for the electricity situation no less than consumers.

Oleg Popenko, the founder of the NGO “Union of Utilities Consumers”, responded to this statement. He wrote that “I haven’t heard such game in a long time.”

“When you work as an equipment sales manager, you talk about yourself as an expert on energy efficiency, but you were invited to the air, and it went away. I haven’t heard such nonsense for a long time“, – wrote Popenko.
