DPS called on the sellers of equipment to stop the artificial increase in the prices of backup power devices

The State Tax Service of Ukraine called on sellers of appliances to stop artificially increasing the cost of backup power devices, in particular charging stations, power banks and other equipment. As noted by acting acting head of DPS Lesya Karnaukh, prices were mostly raised by wholesalers, responding to the increase in demand from the retail side.

“While people sat without electricity and water for 12-18 hours at a time, and energy workers are doing everything to restore light to our homes, some decided to make extra money. We are already recording the facts of a sharp increase in the prices of backup power devices — in some cases over the last week up to 30%, – said Karnauch.

She emphasized that one of the retail chains increased the price of the same charging station by more than UAH 2,000 within two hours.

“Mostly, wholesalers raised prices in response to growing retail demand. The desire to make money is logical, but not to take advantage of the situation and artificially raise prices. Another perennial painful issue is the sale of a significant share of “grey” techniques We see everything, record it and react appropriately, – the head of the DPS.

Karnauch stressed that within the scope of control over cash discipline, the tax service will monitor the correctness of setting prices in order to correctly determine the size and completeness of future tax payments.

“I really expect that the artificial jump in prices is temporary. Because, first of all, we must be guided by mutual respect and support for each other. And work honestly according to the same rules for everyone, she concluded.

For his part, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Danylo Getmantsev announced that he receives numerous appeals regarding the sharp increase in prices for power banks, EcoFlow charging stations and other devices:

“After massive strikes on the energy infrastructure, prices jumped by hundreds of percent. For some goods – for thousands of hryvnias. There are basic foundations on which the market is built. There is demand, there is supply, and a change in the correlation between them can affect the price. In this case, the state’s intervention will disrupt the operation of the market.

He emphasized that the current situation is primarily a matter of morality.

“Speculate on essential goods, try to “heat up” people, instead of preserving the availability of light and heat sources on market terms in conditions of constant enemy shelling, is simply immoral, said Danylo Hetmantsev.
