EU leadership announces visit to Kyiv on third anniversary of Russian invasion

President of the European Council Antonio Costa and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen announced visit to Kyiv on February 24 on the occasion of the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

“February 24 will mark the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. I decided to take this opportunity to come to Kyiv, together with Ursula von der Leyen, to confirm our support for the heroic Ukrainian people and the democratically elected President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.” Koshta said.

In this way, he indirectly reacted to Donald Trump’s statements about “Zelensky the dictator”. The official clarified that the decision on the visit was made recently. In addition, he apologized to the leader of Cote d’Ivoire and the leadership of UNESCO for the change of his plans, due to which the event planned for that date had to be postponed. On the same day, Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez plans to arrive in Kyiv.

We remind you that the EU is not yet planning an extraordinary summit of the Eurocouncil due to the latest events surrounding the expected negotiations on ending the Russian-Ukrainian war.
