Eurovision 2024: Ukraine surprises, Ireland stuns, and Croatia dreams of victory
The grand first semi-final of the song contest took place in Malmö “Eurovision-2024”. It was attended by 15 participating countries, including representatives of Ukraine Alyona alyona and Jerry Heil. Ukrainian performers performed the song “Teresa & Maria”, Ireland surprised with its mysticism, and Croatia enchanted with an energetic number.
Alyona alyona & Jerry Heil not only made it to the finals, but also conquered the hearts of viewers and bookmakers. Their emotional and deep number, staged by Ukrainian director Tanya Muinho, became a true masterpiece.
Along with Ukraine, Serbia, Portugal, Slovenia, Cyprus, Finland, Croatia, Ireland, Luxembourg and Lithuania were in the super final.
Representing Ireland, Bambie Thug, a non-binary artist, defied stereotypes with a mystical performance that combined witchcraft and LGBT themes. Their number caused controversy, but also intrigued the audience.
Baby Lasagna from Croatia lit up the stage with an energetic number “Dim Tag Team Rim”, which combined heavy metal with folk motifs. Now he is leading the bookmakers’ forecasts.
Finland shocked with a bare butt. The representative of Finland, the performer Windows95man, impressed with his ability to shock: in the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, he went on stage without underwear. Actually, it made sense: the lyrics of the song “No rules” justified such a move. Luxembourg reached the final for the first time in 31 years.
Politicians don’t even think about leaving the stage. Sweden has faced the threat of terrorism and protests by Palestinians who oppose Israeli involvement.
Ukrainian representatives give interviews, remind about the war and collect funds for the reconstruction of the Ukrainian school.
During the opening ceremony, the artists wore keys – a touching symbol of the lost homes and forced resettlement of millions of Ukrainians.
“This is a symbol of the phantom house. When the key is there, but the house is goneis,” Jerry Heil explained the deep meaning of this image.
On May 9, the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest will take place.
