Evacuation in Sumy region: more than 38 thousand people left the border areas
In the Sumy region, 38,510 people have already been evacuated from the danger zone, including 6,961 children, which is almost 87% of the total number of people who were to be evacuated. This was reported on the official website of the Sumy Regional Military Administration (RMA).
Evacuation work continues in 153 settlements, and as of today, 212 more children, mainly from Sumy and Shostka districts, remain to be evacuated. In the Okhtyrka and Konotop districts, all families with children who were subject to evacuation have already been moved to safer places.
Volodymyr Artyukh, Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, stressed the importance of keeping a detailed record of all evacuees – every community should know where its residents are and what their conditions are.
We remind you that mandatory evacuation was introduced in August, when local authorities signed an order to evacuate residents from 23 settlements in five communities in Sumy district. Subsequently, the list of areas for mandatory evacuation was expanded. In September, the head of the Hlukhiv community reported that about a third of the residents had already been evacuated from Hlukhiv.
