Firtash’s nitrogen holding plants have reduced production of mineral fertilizers

Nitrogen plants of the Ostchem holding, which is part of Dmitry Firtash’s Group DF, produced 1.571 million tons of mineral fertilizers in 2025. This is 12.7% less than in 2024, when production was 1.8 million tons. This is stated in the Group DF press release.

In particular, Cherkasy’s Azot produced 1.017 million tons of fertilizers, and Rivneazot – 554.3 thousand tons.

The production structure in 2025 looked like this:

  • ammonium nitrate – 672.4 thousand tons (42.8% of the total volume);

  • CAS – 539.17 thousand tons (34.3%);

  • urea – 232.03 thousand tons (14.8%);

  • ammonia – 61.47 thousand tons (3.9%).

Compared to 2024, the production of ammonium nitrate decreased by 11.6%, urea – by 42.3%, ammonia – by 18%, while the production of UAN increased by 6.4%.

The main factors influencing the reduction in production in 2025 were the high cost of energy resources, unstable electricity supply, military risks, a decrease in effective demand from farmers and the continued pressure from imports.

Director of the nitrogen business of Ostchem Serhiy Pavlyuchuk noted that The industry operates in stressful conditions, where the key task is to preserve the country’s production base, not marginality.

He emphasized that strategic products should be manufactured within the country to avoid critical dependence on imports, and factories in 2025 worked exclusively under confirmed demand and focused on products that are in greatest demand in current market conditions.
