For the first time since last year, the Russian Federation has paused in Shahed attacks on Ukraine

On the night of April 1, for the first time since last year, the Russian Federation did not launch the Shahed-type attack drones over the territory of Ukraine. This became an atypical pause against the background of constant attacks, informs Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Combating Disinformation.

“There were no strike UAVs. Let’s keep an eye on it until it doesn’t mean anything,” – noted Kovalenko.

The last time the Air Force recorded the activity of “Shaheed” was on Monday, March 31, at 04:34 in the morning. Later, information appeared about the results of the Ukrainian air defense – 57 out of 130 launched Russian attack drones were destroyed that night. Since the autumn of last year, the Russian Federation has been carrying out almost daily night attacks on Ukraine using attack drones. Recently, Russia began to use the tactics of “Shahed” point strikes on cities.

These actions became an attempt to overload the Ukrainian air defense system, as in recent days a record number of attacks was recorded – more than 100 drones every night. Only on the night of March 14, according to the Air Force, a decrease in activity was recorded: then Russia used 27 “Shakhed” and imitation drones.

The previous similar pause in attacks took place on the night of December 10, 2024. At that time, unfavorable weather conditions – thick fog, which affects the range and flight path of drones – were considered the probable cause. Another similar break was recorded on October 14. According to the data, the likely cause was a hit by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on a warehouse with drones near Yeisk.

At the same time, Major General Vadym Skibitskyi, Deputy Head of the Directorate General of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, reported that Russia has significantly increased the production of drones. This allows her to launch 150 to 200 drones in one strike.
