For the first time since the beginning of the war, the “Red Ruta” festival will be held in Ukraine.

The all-Ukrainian festival of contemporary song and popular music “Chervona Ruta”, which will be held for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, will be held this year in partnership with the Resistance Movement of the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This is discussed in the press release of the festival.

“Red Ruta” is a regular youth festival of modern song and popular music, named after the famous song of Volodymyr Ivasyuk. It has been held every two years since 1989 in a city that is determined on a competitive basis. The event was last held in Chernivtsi in 2019.

This year, the festival will be held in Lviv from September 17 to 21 under the slogan “ The red rue is sounding – the resistance continues!”. Admission to all events will be free. On the main stage – concert-arena “Malevich” — more than 400 solo performers and bands will perform over five days. They will participate in six competition programs in the genres of popular music, authentic Ukrainian folklore, experimental and rock music, as well as acoustic formats.

Separately, a traveling scene will work on the central streets of Lviv with the participation of representatives of the Cultural Landing. Here, in particular, the leader of the band “The Vyo” and laureate of “Red Ruth 1995” Myroslav Kuvaldin, as well as a military serviceman and leader of the team “Pirig and Whip” Maryan Pyrig.

The festival program also includes panel discussions and lectures with the participation of diplomats, military, cultural figures, representatives of business and the public sector. Their topics will be devoted to patriotic education of youth, cultural diplomacy and veteran policy.

Special operations forces will hold closed meetings with young people in Lviv, dedicated to the importance of struggle and resistance today. Among the planned events are a screening of the film “People of the Color of Freedom”, presentations by the authors of the winning murals of the “Resistance Murals” competition, as well as historical lectures.
