Former People’s Deputy Sentenced to 3.5 Years in Prison for Illegal Housing Compensation

The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court found the People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the 8th convocation guilty of illegally receiving compensation for housing in the amount of over 900 thousand hryvnias and sentenced him to 3 years and 6 months in prison. This was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

On November 28, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court announced a verdict, which found the former People’s Deputy guilty of illegally receiving almost 914 thousand hryvnias in compensation for renting a hotel room in Kyiv. According to UP sources, the convicted person is Arkady Kornatsky, a former MP from the BPP from Mykolaiv region.

The court imposed a sentence of three years and six months in prison, and also banned him from holding positions related to organizational, managerial and administrative and economic functions for three years. A fine of 8,500 hryvnias was also imposed.

The verdict can be appealed within 30 days from the date of announcement by filing an appeal through the Supreme Court of Justice to the Appellate Chamber of the court. According to “Ukrainian Pravda”, Kornatsky is currently under a preventive measure in the form of bail and personal obligations.
