Kyivstar announced the completion of the reservation of the Home Internet network
Kyivstar announced the completion of a large-scale project to increase the energy stability of the Home Internet network. As of today, 99% of the company’s entire fixed network is provided with a reserve for up to 12 hours of autonomous operation thanks to the installation of more than 80,000 modern LiFePO4 batteries that support FTTB technology.
These batteries are characterized by fast charging, resistance to overheating and short circuits, and also have a long service life. Thanks to them, subscribers stay connected even during long power outages.
The project became part of the company’s national energy independence program. In 2024-2025, Kyivstar invested more than 291 million hryvnias in the modernization of backup power systems for the Home Internet. In total, from 2022, more than 430 million hryvnias will be allocated to the development of energy sustainability of this network, and 3.2 billion hryvnias will be allocated to increase the energy independence of the entire telecom infrastructure.
“The last large-scale power outages after shelling of energy infrastructure in the spring in Kharkiv and Chernihiv became a real test for the network. In some areas, the Internet worked for more than 15 hours without power, and some subscribers did not notice interruptions at all. This confirmed the effectiveness of the backup solutions that we have been implementing for the last year, explained Serhii Kindras, head of Kyivstar’s fixed communications department.
The company pays special attention to frontline cities, where work is complicated by shelling and limited access to facilities. Despite this, Kyivstar operates according to special protocols, promptly restores the network and provides backup power even in the most difficult conditions. All engineers work in compliance with safety rules and martial law requirements, which allows us to combine service continuity with care for the life and health of employees.
Along with the installation of batteries, the company modernized the equipment and optical lines, which further increased the stability of the fixed network. Today, Kyivstar’s Home Internet service is used by about 1.2 million subscribers in more than 125 cities of Ukraine, and the company continues to record monthly growth in connections. As of mid-2025, the number of Home Internet disconnections is at an all-time low.
You can check the availability of the service in the Kyivstar Home Internet chatbot, by dialing 460 from a Kyivstar mobile phone or by calling 0 800 300 460 from other networks. In addition, Kyivstar owns the largest gigabit network in Ukraine, which provides an Internet access speed of up to 1 Gbit/s, which is ten times higher than the standard level of 100 Mbit/s.
