Four final documents are being worked on in the negotiations on Ukraine
Four possible outcome documents are currently being worked on in the Ukraine negotiations, US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said in an interview with Fox News. According to him, the United States is trying to find out the limits of the compromise that Russia can make, emphasizing that the initiative for further steps is currently on Moscow’s side. These include, in particular, a 20-point peace plan, a package of multilateral security guarantees and a separate economic growth plan.
Matthew Whitaker noted that the parties have never been so close to a possible end to the war, but the lack of clear signals from Russia about its readiness to make concessions is a serious concern. Washington is convinced that without maintaining a permanent dialogue, it will be difficult to achieve real progress. In this context, US President Donald Trump was mentioned as a key peacemaker, capable of bringing both sides to the negotiating table and initiating discussions on options for a peaceful settlement.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in turn, emphasized maintaining close coordination with the US and expressed hope for further joint work to achieve peace. He also emphasized that clearly formulated demands and proposals from the Ukrainian side will play an important role in the next stages of the negotiation process.
At the same time, the general situation in the West remains difficult. According to some experts, Europe is demonstrating weakness in supporting Ukraine, and Donald Trump’s pro-Russian behavior is only deepening the crisis trends. Against this backdrop, Vladimir Putin is increasingly convinced that time is working in his favor, as former US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton writes in his column for The Washington Post.
