French Defense Minister Bruno Le Maire has resigned
French Defense Minister Bruno Le Maire submitted resigned after one day in office. Earlier, French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu, who held the post for less than a month, announced his resignation.
Bruno Le Maire explained that the decision was due to the reaction to his appointment, which interfered with the normal work of state institutions:
“I hope that this decision will allow negotiations to resume with the aim of forming the new government that France needs. My commitment to serve France and the French people will always be guided by concern for the common interest and the state.
French President Emmanuel Macron accepted his resignation.
Let us remind you that Bruno Le Maire was appointed to the position on the evening of October 5, and on October 6, Prime Minister Sebastian Lecornu resigned. He gave three reasons for his decision. First, he criticized the political parties that “sometimes pretended not to see the changes and the deep divide caused by the non-use of Article 49.3”, which allows laws to be passed without a vote.
Secondly, he stated that he was willing to compromise, but “every political party wants the other party to fully adopt its platform”. Thirdly, Lecornu noted that the composition of the government within the framework of the United Core was not flexible, which, according to him, caused the awakening of certain party appetites. on the eve of the presidential elections.
