French President Emmanuel Macron announces intention to leave politics in 2027

French President Emmanuel Macron declared his intention to completely cease political activity after the end of his second presidential term. He made the corresponding statement during a visit to Cyprus during a meeting with students of the French-Cypriot school in Nicosia. The head of state emphasized that his stay in power, which will end in 2027, was a temporary stage, due to the desire to implement certain ideas.

The head of state admitted that the last period of his ten-year presidency turned out to be psychologically difficult for him. According to Emmanuel Macron, the most difficult task after a long tenure is the need to defend the steps already taken and try to correct the mistakes of the past, while moving the country forward.

“I was not involved in politics before and I will not be involved in politics after this,” the French President noted.

Emmanuel Macron said that his decision to run for president was dictated by the desire to change things more strongly and faster than traditional tools allowed. He emphasized that the creation of his own political movement and subsequent leadership in the state were the result of passion for his country and belief in the European project, and not a professional interest in politics as such.

“It was and remains a struggle to move my country and our Europe forward, as well as to defend the values in which I believe”, Macron emphasized.

The politician also noted that he has always been interested in public life, but considers his presidential experience as a fulfillment of duty to the nation. After officially ending his term at the Élysée Palace, he plans to focus on activities not related to state administration or party building.
