From today, the Verkhovna Rada resumed live broadcasts of its meetings
On September 16, the Verkhovna Rada resumed live broadcasts of its meetings — for the first time in almost four years. Currently, the TV channel “Rada” live shows the plenary session of the parliament.
In the conditions of a full-scale war, the TV channel broadcast the work of deputies only once – on July 31, 2025, when a vote was held to restore the independence of NABU and SAP.
Live broadcasts of the meetings were closed after the invasion of Russia for security reasons. At the same time, access to the session hall was restricted for journalists, which was restored in May 2024. At the same time, it was possible to monitor the work of the parliament through unofficial sources: the broadcasts were conducted by a People’s Deputy from “European Solidarity” Oleksiy Honcharenko.
Let us remind you that on September 9, 2025, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk signed a resolution on the return of live broadcasts of meetings. The first broadcast was scheduled for September 16.
The resolution states that the decision is explained by the change in the security situation and the need to increase the transparency of the parliament’s work even under martial law. At the same time, it is emphasized that broadcasts are possible only in compliance with security rules, for which the restrictions on the publication of information about the course of plenary sessions are canceled.
