Germany finally refuses to supply Taurus missiles to Ukraine
Germany will not hand over long-range Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine, despite growing threats and repeated appeals from Kyiv on this matter. About this in an interview with the Financial Times stated German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
“Germany will not supply Ukraine with its long-range Taurus missiles, even despite the recent spate of Russian airstrikes and Kyiv’s repeated request,” Boris Pistorius emphasized.
Thus, the government of Germany finally ruled out the possibility of transferring this type of weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Taurus (Target Adaptive Unitary & Dispenser Robotic Ubiquity System) cruise missiles are designed for high-precision hitting of fortified and underground targets. They can penetrate concrete structures and destroy strategic objects at a considerable distance, without exposing the carrier to the risk of being in the range of enemy air defense.
Despite numerous requests from Ukraine and the previously voiced political signals from German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz regarding the possible supply, Defense Minister Boris Pistorius remains adamant that Berlin will not transfer Taurus missiles to Ukraine.
