Great Britain has banned Israeli officials from participating in an arms exhibition in London
The British government has decided to ban the participation of Israeli government delegations in the DSEI arms exhibition, which takes place in London once every two years. This is reported by Politico.
“The decision of the Israeli government to further escalate the military operation in Gaza is wrong. As a result, we can confirm that no Israeli government delegation will be invited to DSEI UK 2025, a British government spokesman said.
He added that it is necessary to “immediately find a diplomatic solution, stop the war, reach a truce, return the hostages and increase humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
In recent months, London has consistently increased pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, demanding a truce, threatening to suspend trade talks and declaring its readiness to recognize a Palestinian state if Israel does not change its policy.
The ban by the British government follows an incident at the Paris Air Show in June, when Israeli companies were ordered to remove some of the weapons from display and refused to comply. Israel was forewarned of the ban. At the same time, it can be revised if the Israeli authorities demonstrate compliance with the norms of international humanitarian law in the occupied Palestinian territories.
DSEI traditionally gathers national delegations and private companies, each of which has its own pavilion. It is not yet known whether Israel will retain the right to a separate pavilion. The organizer of the exhibition is Clarion Defense and Security Limited, but it receives significant support from the government and the armed forces of Great Britain.
