Great Britain has extended the training program for the Ukrainian military until at least the end of 2026
Britain has decided to extend a training program for the Ukrainian military until at least the end of 2026 to help Kyiv strengthen its army before concluding possible security guarantees backed by Europe and the United States. These guarantees are being considered in the context of a potential peace agreement. This was reported Bloomberg agency.
The British Ministry of Defense said the Interflex program, which includes combat training and leadership skills training, will continue until at least the end of 2026.
“Work on a potential peace deal between Ukraine and Russia gained momentum this week as US and European military leaders met to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine. “The Coalition of the Willing”, led by Great Britain and France, has developed plans for the deployment of multinational military forces in Ukraine to deter attacks after the conclusion of a peace agreement”, the report says.
The British Ministry of Defense also noted that more than 200 military planners and representatives of about 30 countries have joined the meetings in recent months. The first stage of the package of measures involves the further strengthening of the Ukrainian army.
“These forces will be supported by a multinational group consisting mainly of European troops, which will be stationed in Ukraine away from the front lines. Another part of the plan provides for the so-called support from the United States, which will consist in the exchange of intelligence, surveillance abroad, the supply of weapons and, possibly, anti-aircraft defenses, – the department emphasized.
Currently, it is known that more than 50,000 Ukrainian military personnel have already been trained in Britain under the Interflex program.
“We will continue to strengthen our support together with allies so that Ukraine can defend itself today and deter tomorrow. Given the ongoing Russian attacks, we must put the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the strongest position possible. And as the struggle for peace continues, we must make Ukrainians the strongest possible deterrent to ensure future peace, – emphasized British Defense Minister John Gealy.
